Michael opened his eyes and stared up at the ceiling with a distant look on his face. How long had he been sitting on the bench? He let out a sigh and pulled his hands out of his pockets, clutching onto his phone as they moved out so he could check the time. Two in the afternoon. No, he hadn't been here too long, he didn't look like a weirdo... No more than usual anyway. He thought to himself as he looked about. He'd just parked himself in the center of the mall seemingly without reason, why not? He stood up and brushed himself down, slipping his phone back into the pocket of his hoodie, keeping his hands there too, comforting him a little.
It was a little strange to be doing this, just wandering around pretty much aimlessly, sure while he was here he'd probably stop off at Hot Topic and Fye while he was here and possibly grab something at Starbucks, being that there was one there. He knew Lindsay was around today, she was finishing her shift soon, probably how he'd ended up here, little other reason for him to be hanging around, unless he'd just wandered down, but it was a half hour walk so he must've been desperate. He sighed heavily, why was he dwelling on this? Pulling his hood up he headed along.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Alexandre's footsteps echoed off the tiles of the mall, easily being swallowed up by the other footsteps of people wandering the mall as well. He sighed quietly to himself as he easily slipped past the slower people who were walking with an obvious disdain for them. He couldn't help it, he was just being realistic. Alex's parents left him with money, which could sustain him and his gran far longer than anyone would, or even could, imagine. Of course Alex was going to make sure people know. Avoiding a couple with their hands intertwined, Alex continued on his aimless trek through the mall.
If he was desperate enough for something to do, he'd probably go off and find more clothes to buy. Or maybe he could find his gran something nice, even though she would probably protest his expensive spending. She would be right, obviously, and Alexandre would end up returning it and feel guilty about buying something for her. He tried to be careful about his spending habits, but sometimes he just needed to splurge to feel better. It wasn't like he had a multitude of friends to fall back on. He had Rory, but that friendship was tenative at best.
He didn't want to befriend anyone else anyway. They would find out he was filthy rich and try to coax him into spending hundreds on drugs and other stupid things. And Alexandre, the stupid kid he was, would probably oblige. But he wouldn't do that, his gran would find out and he couldn't do that to an old lady like her. She was way too adored in his eyes to betray her like that over silly drugs and alcohol. Which called for him to be cocky and selfish and pretty much intolerable to keep the leeches away from him.
Alexandre shook his head at the thoughts before sighing and walking past another boy. The hood of his jacket prevented Alex from seeing him fully, but did that matter? Alexandre wasn't going to go off and befriend him, just because he didn't know what the boy looked like, right? Yeah, right. Shaking his head, Alexandre walked in front of the boy to move toward an empty bench. He flopped down onto the bench as he sighed. It got lonely sometimes making sure no one could get past Alexandre's walls he built up.

He looked up just in time as someone moved right in his way to sit down, and also in time to notice the guy looking up at him in return, though from the quick glance, he could tell that the other didn't particularly take much in. Literally just a quick glance then brushing him off.
It wasn't so much the getting into personal space that was the problem here, it was just getting in the way, if Michael hadn't noticed that he was there they surely would've collided. He looked back for a moment at the guy and recognised something about his gaze, how it stared off listlessly... Not unlike himself admittedly. He hesitated, probably a bad choice, most likely it would be noticed that he was looking, then he'd get called out on it and he would just freeze up. It was a guy too, one from his school if he remembered rightly.
Getting noticed was a big no in that case. Any number of things could happen if he was recognised. All at this point did he realise he'd just kind of been standing there staring, giving the other ample time to notice him. That thought quickly in mind he sucked in a quick gasp and quickly turned forward, willing his feet to move.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Maybe it was his deep thinking that made him lonely. Alexandre would constantly think and think about why everyone should be ignored and never trusted because they were leeches and just wanted the fame and money and fortune. It was sick and disgusting how many friends he lost because he was rich. It irritated him to the point he wanted nothing to do with people.
It was only if they were suffering or in great need that Alex would actually step in and ask if they needed help. He hated how his caring nature wanted nothing but to help others who seemed like they needed it. The more selfish side of him wanted nothing more than to ignore the suffering of others and stay by himself all the time. It was an endless tug of war in Alexandre's mind. Help or be selfish. Help out. Be selfish.
Snapping from his thoughts at the sensation of being watched, Alexandre looked up from the spot he was staring at to the same boy he had past moments earlier. Blinking his brown eyes curiously, Alex tilted his head to the side inquisitively before frowning. Why was that boy staring at him anyway? Was there something on his face or was it because the kid was wanting to approach him? Alexandre didn't know and quite frankly, he sort of disliked that. The boy might want to befriend him and get Alex to open his wallet. People like that made him so sick.
Looking on, Alexandre realized that the boy seemed kind of familiar, from school probably. Just because he seemed like a dick all the time and ignored most people, it didn't mean he totally ignored them. He watched and observed. Well, he mostly watched from afar with a little bit of want and need in his eyes. He wanted friends who didn't want to hang out because of his wealth. He wanted them for their company and it was apparently too much to ask for. Thus, his loner like attitude and cockiness.
When the boy continued to stand there, Alexandre was beginning to feel like he was being scrutinized. Eyebrows drawing downward to frown even more Alex stood up. At that moment, it seemed like the spell the other male was under broke. He must've realized he was staring and now was attempting to run away. "Hey you!" he called as he moved to try to stop the boy from leaving.
Reaching out Alex grabbed the other boy's wrist as he turned the male to peer into his eyes. "Can I help you or something? Because you've been staring at me for a while and it's quite frankly.. really creepy dude," Alexandre spoke, his voice laced with confusion and accusation. His brown eyes stared into the other boy's own brown colored eyes.

- - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - • • • • • we are just M I S G U I D E D G H O S T S - - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - Michael had tried to run before it happened, but the other had moved quickly too. He felt stupid, he wasn't even sure why he'd stared in the first place, just something that happened out of natural reaction. He had begun to move when he froze, feeling pressure on his wrist as something clamped on, stopping him.
His eyes went wide and scared for a brief moment as he was whirled around, trying to hide them with black bangs before he was forced to look straight into the other's. His eyes never let him lie though, and instantly it should've been made obvious to whoever had pulled him around that it wasn't intentional. He stood for a moment in worry, panic flooded him, quickly pulling his hand away and cradling it as if he'd poured scalding water over himself.
Michael just stood for a moment and opened his mouth but nothing came the first few tries. Eventually though he managed to get his brain and his mouth to work in tandem. Briefly. "I... I'm sorry, I didn't..." He stammered out and took a step away. He heard the accusatory tone in the other's voice, instantly he found himself terrified, why on earth had he just done that!? Implicated himself into a situation he couldn't possibly get out of safely.
Swallowing hard, Michael tried to take another step back and look away, but only managed the latter. Whatever this guy was going to say or do would happen eventually.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Alexandre's eyes blinked in obvious surprise as the boy froze once he grabbed a hold of his wrist. That was.. surprising. Most people would swing at Alexandre, already knowing he was going to give them a tongue-lashing or something of his usual irritated and cocky nature. But this was different. He noticed the other boy try to hide his eyes, but eventually give up trying. Alexandre glanced into the other's brown eyes and noticed that his eyes weren't the usual pissed off or annoyed expression in them.
They were actually sincere and frightened that the boy had been staring at Alex for a while. Huh. Alex let his hand drop as the other yanked it close to his body, as if burned. Alex watched on curiously and he could easily hear his gran in the back of his mind, scolding him for being so rude and gruff with the other. 'He was probably just making sure you weren't someone he knew!' Alex could just hear the tone she would use and it made a knot of guilt well up in his throat. Great. Now he was going to have to apologize and try to calm the other boy down.
Not that he didn't want to, he just was reluctant to do so. "I... I'm sorry, I didn't..." The knot of guilt in Alexandre's throat grew even larger at the sound of the stammering boy in front of him. His gran would be so disappointed in him. He watched as the other boy stepped back and seemed to be extremely terrified. Okay, he had to calm the other down and maybe apologize. That would get rid of that knot of guilt right? Probably, but knowing his gran's attitude, she would probably scold him once more for not trying to be more friendly.
Alex's eyes softened from their usual irritated look to something more akin to an apologetic one. "Hey... don't worry about it. I mean, I shouldn't have been so rude to you. The staring.. just threw me off," The apology sounded way better in Alex's head, he mused as he sighed and ran a hand through his hair. The pieces of brown hair flopped backward before resettling themselves back into their normal disarray.
Alex briefly looked down at his scuffed up and worn out converse shoes as he ruffled his hair up even more. He so wasn't used to being nice, but he wanted to fix the poor kid's nerves after he had ever so rudely scared the black haired boy. Looking up finally from his shoes, Alex smiled slightly at the boy. He wasn't sure what to do anymore. What would the other ebony haired boy do? Alex didn't want to push it, since he was the one who was being a rude jerk and everything.

- - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - • • • • • we are just M I S G U I D E D G H O S T S - - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - Assured he would feel the brunt of a verbal lashing, Michael remained tense for the few moments of silence that were between them. All the while he thought other were probably staring at them, couldn't help but think that they were looking and wondering what the two of them were doing. It strained on him.
"Hey..." Michael blinked a little as the soft tone of the others voice sharply contrasted what had originally emerged from his throat, snapping him out of his worry at least momentarily, "don't worry about it. I mean, I shouldn't have been so rude to you. The staring... just threw me off." In a way, this still dawned on Michael as a bad thing and he cringed slightly.
"I'm sorry," he began again, he should've realised what he was doing sooner and stopped. He also should've said that, but it sounded too weird in his head. But the apology to an apology didn't seem much better. He gulped again, looking up and noticing even the expression had changed. He definitely recognised this boy from school now, it wasn't the exact same look he'd seen on him before, but it was certainly him. If only he had a name to put to the face.
He'd gone silent again. He jumped a little as the ramblings in his head stopped and he cringed. "I shouldn't of been staring, it was my own fault." He continued from the beginning of his apology. Unsure of where to go next with his, he was thankful that his feet finally got the message and he took another step back. He was beginning to worry again, what if he still said the wrong thing? He wasn't sure if the other had finished apologising though. He couldn't get away from with the situation with subtlety.
He swallowed again and let out a breath he didn't even know he was holding, chewing lightly on his bottom lip as the awkward air settled around him. He just looked at the other somewhat expectantly.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Alexandre was actually feeling a bit crummy for being so jerk-ish to the boy. It just was that he was so used to being a dick to everyone because they couldn't be trusted. This was somewhat new to him. Totally and completely brand new. Alex couldn't tell but he was pretty sure that the people wandering the mall would probably wonder what the hell was going on between the two boys. Quite frankly he didn't care. Let them stare and wonder, it didn't affect him at all.
Looking down at the black haired boy, Alex wondered if standing out in the open like this was nerve wracking. The boy was pretty.. skittish around him, so this might not be a good place to interrogate him. Or something. "I'm sorry," Alex jerked his head back up from its position in staring at his shoes to glance at the boy. He was apologizing for staring. "I shouldn't of been staring, it was my own fault." Shaking his head, Alex let the boy apologize again.
Giving the other boy a slight smile, Alex noticed the boy was slowly moving away. Was he really that frightened of him? Alex was pretty intimidating, with his cocky attitude and scathing comments, but really he was just a big softie. He just didn't let too many people see that side. And even if he did, it was if he was really comfortable around them. The silence that suddenly appeared once more made Alex want to cringe. It was too quiet and awkward and maybe he should just leave. The other boy seemed like he wanted to bolt and Alex didn't know what to do. But.. he could easily hear his gran scolding him for giving up so easily.
"This is awkward. D'you want to go somewhere there aren't fifty billion people watching us? Or at least to the food court maybe? I'm Alexandre by the way. Sorry about freaking you out," That was probably the most awkward thing he had ever said before. Mentally slapping himself, Alex glanced over at the other boy as he awaited a denial an answer.

- - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - • • • • • we are just M I S G U I D E D G H O S T S - - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - It was strange to have someone outside of his immediate family smiling at him, even if it was the smallest quirk in the corners of one's mouth. The sight of the other male smiling at him was both strange and reassuring at the same time. He blinked slowly for a moment and stopped himself, this other guy wasn't going away or anything. He'd been in this sort of situation before, and people normally walked off of their own accord after some time.
This guy was different though, it was strange, like there was a conflict in his head. As he spoke up again, the weirdest thing happened. "This is awkward. D'you want to go somewhere there aren't fifty billion people watching us? Or at least to the food court maybe?" Was this guy serious? He was actually asking Michael if he wanted to hand out. And it really seemed genuine. "I'm Alexandre by the way. Sorry about freaking you out,"
"Alexandre," Michael repeated under his breath so the other wouldn't hear. In his pockets his hands slowly scrunched up, he wasn't angry or scared... Well scratch that, he was scared, really scared. He couldn't remember the last time someone had actually introduced themselves. Something in his mind pushed him a little. Sure the majority of his normal thought process still told him to run... But this was seriously the first time in a while someone had kept him in conversation, seemed to show interest.
He had nothing else to do... It was someone from school... Sure it terrified him just a little bit. But...
"O-Ok..." He answered and looked back up to the other's eyes again, showing a softness that certainly wasn't there before. "Michael... By the way... I'm Michael." He looked away quickly after this, as if saying his own name was weird.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Alexandre wouldn't be surprised if the boy got confused at his almost bipolar-like attitude switches. He sometimes cursed his caring nature for being so strong. Alex couldn't help it, he could remember trying to help lost baby animals and sometimes the occasional lost children back in italy, and even today he still tries to help out animals and others. He did it reluctantly, but he still put all of his heart into helping. It was just something his gran, not his parents, instilled in his head.
Smiling slightly still, Alex waited quietly for the boy to answer. He could tell the boy was confused, obviously because he was reluctant to answer. Or that could just be his normal demeanor. He did seem a bit.. nervous of everything almost. Alex vaguely wondered what could make someone so nervous. He hoped the other wouldn't want to walk away from him. Alexandre's caring nature probably wouldn't stand for it. He'd probably try to coerce the boy into hanging out with him some other way. Alex just had to take it slow. Kind of like.. getting a wounded animal to trust you.
Mentally shaking his head at the thought, Alex wondered what the boy was thinking. The minutes seemed to drag on, but Alex was dead set on trying to get to know the boy. It would be something his gran would make him do. Make new friends and be a bit nicer to others. His gran was probably his weakness. He would jump through hoops for her if he had to. "O-Ok..." Snapping from his thoughts, Alexandre looked up at the black haired boy.
Was that an agreement to go hang with him at the food court? Alex sort of.. hoped so. He was already at the mall and he was bored out of his mind. So why not make a new friend and go hang out? That would probably be the first thing any regular person would do. Alexandre would probably just end up hanging around the house and take pictures. Or maybe call Rory up and see if he wanted to go do something.
"Michael... By the way... I'm Michael." Alexandre's smile strengthened at the sound of the ebony haired boy's voice. Great! That was a start at least. "I would say nice to meet you.. but I was a bit of a jerk, so I won't," shrugging as he spoke, Alex gave Michael a sheepish smile. It wasn't far from the truth and Alex hoped that Michael wouldn't mind too much of his attitude.

Michael thought to himself, watch Alexandre with cautious eyes, this boy was on a bit of an emotional roller coaster, being spoken to and actually agreeing to be with someone was jarring enough without being snapped at one minute then buddy buddy the next. Were most people like this? Or was it just this boys own strange quirks.
He couldn't say, but now the other was now smiling and making jokes, or what it seemed like anyway. Personally, he didn't find it particularly funny. His eyebrows raised themselves in a confused stare at Alexandre, shuffling his feet about a little hesitantly. "Uhm, should we go then?" He asked softly, as he looked about. "People are still looking..." His stomach rumbled a little bit and he cringed at the noise, obviously going to the food court was for two reasons now... Not that he was going to admit to it.
He cringed slightly though and moved his hands in his pockets to cover his stomach and he glanced away, hoping the motions weren't too obvious. All of this was starting to make him feel really uncomfortable so if this was actually going to happen, he wanted it out of the way now.
